Ashfield Meetings & Events, the largest full service event management agency specialising in serving the healthcare sector, is making final preparations for its highly successful university placement scheme’s annual assessment centre.
The assessment centre, which will take place on 2 May at the company’s UK headquarters in Ashby De La Zouch, has already received numerous applicants from the UK and overseas from a variety of academic institutions offering event management degrees. This year the scheme has been extended to include multimedia and creative design degrees that are aligned to our engagement and live event service offerings. Since the launch of the scheme two years ago the company has assessed close to 50 students annually. The current scheme has six students already placed in the UK office.
The assessment itself consists of individual presentations, group exercises, a company overview, a question and answer session with existing agency staff and IT tests. The successful undergraduates will be offered a year-long work placement as part of their degree course.
Helen Capelin (Operational Excellence Director, and responsible for implementing and managing the undergraduate programme) said: “As we approach the end of our second successful year of running this highly effective scheme, it has attracted more and more interest and gone from strength-to-strength. The students are benefitting from on the job training, allowing them to transfer theory from the classroom. All of our placement students will combine on-site and office-based work in addition to being enrolled in our comprehensive in-house training programme. Education, training and continued professional development is very important to our organisation.”
