Doug Burcin is the President, Ashfield Healthcare Communications and a member of the Ashfield SLT. His primary focus will be accountable for the overall strategy, operational effectiveness, total profitability and standing with stakeholders with a focus on value creation and customer centricity for Ashfield’s global network of over 20 agencies and specialist service divisions. Doug is based in Boston, MA, but spends the majority of his time working with clients and our agencies across the globe.
Having worked in almost every disease category in medicine, Burcin has a proven track record in building brands of all shapes, sizes and global markets. Doug has been an early agency pioneer in working with a wide range of clients in the specialty and rare disease markets. And, with the ongoing disruption in the agency business, Burcin has been an industry thought leader on different agency models leveraging creativity, data and technology to strategically and creatively build brands.
Prior to Ashfield, Doug spent 2 1/2 years at Klick Health, the world’s largest independent health agency as Chief Growth Officer. As a major driver of the agency’s continued 30% Y/Y growth – Doug led the agency’s transformation into building and operationalizing the strategic and creative brand building capabilities for the agency.
Prior to Klick Health, Doug spent 18 years at Havas Health, the last eight as Global CEO—presiding over the global health network agency’s 60 offices and 2,500 employees worldwide. Under Doug’s leadership, the global agency network transformed new agencies, experimented with different service models and built the first unified agency network with global capabilities for healthcare professionals, patients and payers with services across consulting, advertising, market access, medical education, digital innovation and public relations.
His leadership at Havas Health has been recognized across the industry with accolades that include being named “Advertising Persons of the Year” by Medical Advertising News, Medical Marketing & Media’s “Network of the Year” and Adweek’s first “Healthcare Agency of the Year.”
