The 1-5 October held the 54th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Berlin. This event has extreme prestige within the healthcare community and shares the current and future research revolving diabetes.
The program was full of symposium and meetings looking at prevention strategies and treatments along with many other of interest events.
This has been one of the largest EASD meetings with more interactive sessions such as blood pressure readings and stands showcasing clinical data through the eyes of a patient. The meeting also included speakers within the exhibition halls hosting mini sessions on their stands.
There were two huge exhibition halls with one exhibition room full of medical devices and diagnostic companies and the other mainly pharma showcasing the latest drugs and patient technologies.
Our very own Kamla Jassal, Business Developer at Ashfield Healthcare Communications reflects on her time at EASD “A very busy and productive EASD buzzing with interactive elements and huge exhibitions. With exhibition halls showcasing all the latest developments and updates on existing products such as the futuristic virtual reality sessions to understand patient realities. This also included lots of newly released data looking at an individual point of care testing.”
In addition to the event, Novo Nordisk hosted an exciting annual 5k run which brought together citizens of Berlin and EASD delegates to highlight the importance for increased physical exercise to help prevent diabetes. Overall 826 got involved and raised over €9K to support the World Diabetes Foundation in Kenya project.
Overall this was a very exciting and informative event with a lot of value that our attendee Kamla Jassal can bring back to Ashfield Healthcare Communications. We look forward to EASD 2019 in Barcelona.
