Sharon Donatucci shares her experience attending the Fleming 3rd annual PV and risk management conference in Philadelphia, PA.
On May 25-26, 2016, I had the pleasure of representing Ashfield Pharmacovigilance at the 3rd Annual pharmacovigilance & risk management strategies summit in Philadelphia, PA. This year’s event, hosted by Fleming, took place at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. Having attended two previous summits, I anticipated another excellent educational program. The summit was fast paced, very organized, and packed a lot of information into just two days.
Although this year had more delegates than in the past, the meeting had an intimate feel, which lent itself to thought provoking discussions. The delegates in attendance were pharmacovigilance executives, directors and department heads with decades of combined experience and their own battle hardened stories to tell. The topics presented were refreshingly relevant and pertained to the day-to-day struggles one faces in pharmacovigilance and risk management.
On day two I presented a spotlight session on Multiple ways to tailor outsourced models which focused on customization of based on your company’s specific pharmacovigilance needs. Some of the valuable topics presented were Current issues on harmonization and regulatory compliance, Best practices on implementing the E2B R3 guidance, Inspection readiness and practical implications of safety governance and How to deal with patient support programs from a safety perspective.
Attending this summit proved to be very worthwhile. The topics were relevant and the people in attendance were incredibly knowledgeable about the pharmacovigilance industry. The format was slightly different this year and included lunch time round table discussions. The event was organized, the topics were relevant, the moderators were excellent and at the end of the two days we all left with more knowledge and ideas to share with our colleagues back home!
