Ashfield U.S. is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Van Sant as President of their new Medical Affairs business unit and Lee Ann Chaiken as Senior Vice President of Ashfield’s Pharmacovigilance business.
The new Medical Affairs business unit will combine Ashfield’s existing Medical Information, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Science Liaison services. The unit is being established as part of Ashfield’s five-year growth plan to provide its clients leading services across the entire healthcare value chain by investing in people, technology and infrastructure. Amy’s role will be focused on raising awareness of Ashfield’s Medical Affairs capabilities and executing the flexible and scalable programs clients require. She will be located in the Fort Washington, PA corporate headquarters of Ashfield U.S.
Amy assumes her position at Ashfield U.S. having most recently served as Director, Regulatory Advertising & Promotion for the Pharmaceutical Sector within the Johnson & Johnson Health Care Compliance & Privacy Organisation. Amy holds a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia, and an MBA in Pharmaceutical Management from Drexel University.
Lee Ann Chaiken has been appointed Senior Vice President of Ashfield’s Pharmacovigilance unit headquartered in Durham, NC, reporting directly to Amy Van Sant. Ashfield’s Pharmacovigilance business is recognised as delivering world-class safety and risk management services to meet the ever-changing complex regulations and demands for product safety within the pharmaceutical, biotech, consumer health/over-the-counter, and medical device categories.

Amy, who previously worked for Ashfield in the position of Director, Medical Information stated, “I am excited to be joining Ashfield again at such a pivotal time in its growth story in the US. Lee’s most recent experience was as Senior Director, IT implementation Services, IQVIA where she led the operational implementation of SaaS safety services across the client base.
