Infusion, part of Ashfield Healthcare Communications, started in April 2007 with four employees working out of Matt and Angela Jacobson’s home office in East Haddam, CT. Infusion’s mission was, and still is, to develop and implement scientifically robust, clinically relevant, and commercially sound scientific communication platforms for our clients.

As the business took off, more space was needed, and the company moved in 2009 to “real” office space just up the road in Haddam, CT, across the street from the Connecticut River, eventually employing a staff of 10 that year. A year later, in 2010, Infusion had doubled in size and became part of the UDG/Ashfield family.

Infusion continued to grow at a steady pace into new therapeutic areas with more clients and employees, and in October 2016, Infusion left its country setting and moved into larger corporate offices in downtown Middletown, CT.

Our staff now comprises 45 people and includes account executives, medical writers, scientific directors, medical editors, and graphic designers. Three of the four original employees still work at Infusion (Matt, Angela, and Rick Kemmerer), and many of us have been here 5+ years. It’s the challenge of the work and the quality of the people we work with that gets us into the office every day and keeps us here long-term.

Some 90% of our scientific staff have advanced degrees, and our management team has 18+ years of experience in healthcare communication; our scientific team 10+ years; our core delivery team 10+ years; and client services 8+ years. Heather Sylvestro, our Director of Graphics and Production, is an award-winning designer, having been recognised several times by professional advertising/graphics industry groups for her designs and having had her design chosen as the artwork for the 2014 annual meeting of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.

Infusion is a full-service healthcare communications agency offering our clients:

  • Communication strategy planning (data gap and landscape analysis, scientific platforms development, competitive intelligence, literature analysis, conference reporting)
  • Publication planning and delivery (plan development and management, steering committees)
  • Content development (abstracts, posters, manuscripts, slide decks, field training guides, medical information letters, mechanism of action animations and figure design, promotional materials and congress booth content)
  • Thought leader identification, mapping, and engagement (investigator meetings, advisory boards and peer-to-peer programmes, speaker training, satellite symposia and standalone forums, product theatres).

We work with major biopharmaceutical companies as well as with small emerging companies bringing their first or second drug to market. We have expertise in important therapeutic areas such as multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, and oncology and are working more and more in rare diseases, such as acromegaly, primary immunodeficiency diseases, haemophilia, and von Willebrand disease.

Our anniversary celebration included a continental breakfast, as well as cake, champagne, a slide show of company events over the years, and Infusion trivia in the afternoon.

Matt Jacobson, Group Director, said: “We continue to grow our business, growing organically on our successes with current clients and by seeking new clients, as well as recruiting new talent to maintain the quality of work Infusion has become known for. We also look forward to developing and increasing our role within the Ashfield Healthcare Communications family, taking advantage of a broader range of talent and capabilities in collaboration to offer our clients new and exciting products.”
