UDG Healthcare PLC, parent company of Ashfield Meetings & Events, hosted their bi-annual management conference in Lisbon from Tuesday 30 September to Wednesday 1 October.

UDG Healthcare PLC offers outsourced commercialisation services to international healthcare clients primarily in the areas of supply chain, packaging, sales, marketing and medical services. With over 8,500 staff in 22 countries they provide innovative, outsourced services that deliver outstanding results for healthcare companies and enable them to bring their products quickly to market.

The event – entitled UDG Network Live – brought together 150 leaders of the organisation  from both UDG Healthcare and its four divisions; Aquilant, Ashfield, Sharp and United Drug. The meeting focused on ‘Innovation Through Collaboration’ and used a combination of sharing best practice, facilitated workshops, external speakers and environment exhibits (such as ‘Innovation Walls’) to deliver meaningful content.

A key component of the event was a novel custom-built digital network developed as a multi-faceted interaction tool. Responses to questions collated pre-event were used to facilitate networking, provide insights and focus people and groups into specialist interest groups. The use of the system allowed the cross-functional attendees to make different connections within the UDG network and encouraged collaborative behaviour. It will be used as a post-event tool to develop an online community to ensure core messages are cascaded and shared post-conference.

The collaborative focus of the event content itself was replicated in the approach to delivering the event. In creating content, producing and coordinating the event Ashfield Meetings & Events worked alongside the UDG Healthcare Marketing & Communications team and sister company Knowledge Point 360 Group.
