Ashfield Digital & Creative’s Alex Moran talks about what it is like to be Creative Lead in the Strategy team.

I’ve been with Ashfield for over 4 years, originally joining as a Presentation Designer, progressing to Senior Graphic Designer, and most recently, I have transitioned into the Strategy team as the Creative Lead. As a creative strategist, I focus on delivering effective campaign creative work that really resonates with the specific healthcare audiences.  I’ve always had a keen eye for creative, I studied Advertising & Brand Management at university and started out in graphic design shortly after that. For me, I wanted to find a career that had the perfect mix of design and marketing strategy.

At Ashfield, I’ve gained so much knowledge about the healthcare industry and the differences between commercial and healthcare marketing. Working within the strategy team, I have learnt how important it is to develop robust rationales for all creative ideas. I’ve also learnt a lot about the scientific side – it always surprises me how many medical acronyms I actually understand!

What I love most about my job is how we can communicate complex scientific information in a creative and impactful way so it truly resonates with the intended audience. I believe the work I do has an impact and helps to improve the lives of patients. My advice to someone interested in working in this space is a massive cliché, but true… Take creative risks, don’t be afraid to make mistakes and don’t be precious over your ideas. Fight for what you believe in, but take feedback as a driver to make the original idea even better.
