On 13 June East Cheshire Hospice joined Ashfield Healthcare Communications at our Peakside, Macclesfield office to tell us about all the great things our donated cash goes towards as part of our Impact on Society week.
Camilla, one of the fund raisers for East Cheshire Hospice delivered an excellent presentation, whilst we ate the sandwiches and crisps provided by our Ashfield Cares Macclesfield group.
East Cheshire Hospice covers a large area of our community over 400sq miles with the catchment being around 200,000 population. Based in Macclesfield, it supports Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Buxton, Congleton, High Leigh, High Peak, Knutsford, Poynton, Wilmslow and all the villages and hamlets in between. It has 15 beds in the inpatient unit, separate male and female wards, 7 single bedrooms that all look out onto the gardens. There are no visiting hours, or restriction on numbers of visitors and pets are welcome too. They support approx. 250 patients a year. They offer relaxation, massage, acupuncture, aromatherapy, hypnotherapy, Indian head massage, therapeutic massage, reflexology and reiki in private therapy rooms – Pampering sessions for hair and nails in the Sunflower Wellbeing Centre. They also have a fantastic outpatient team offering a wide range of services including a gym, physiotherapy, occupational health and art classes.
In September, this year ECH are launching a new service called Hospice @Home. This will bring their services into the community to provide out of hours care and support for patients in their own homes. This will significantly increase the number of patients who can be helped each year and they are expecting to support an additional 250 patients. This initiative will offer patients the choice of staying at home rather than spending time in the hospice.
All the hospice’s services are free to patients, but East Cheshire Hospice need to raise £7,500 every single day that is £312.50 every hour, £5.21 every minute (The cost of a cup of coffee and a toasted teacake at some establishments).
Ashfield Healthcare Communications have been raising money for ECH for a number of years and hopefully will continue to do so. Our contribution to date has been £21,704, which is an amazing achievement.
